The best NotebookLM Chrome extensions in 2026: we checked 101 listings, and 9 passed on users, ratings and updates. See what each does and what it can access.

Search the Chrome Web Store for Gemini Notebook and you’ll find Chrome extensions promising exports, folders and one-click YouTube imports. Some have hundreds of thousands of users. Others, however, haven’t been updated in over a year. All of them run inside the notebooks that hold your research. So which deserve a place in your browser? We checked 101 listings and kept the 9 that cleared our bar. Additionally, we read what each one can access.

Key Takeaways

  • We checked 101 Chrome Web Store listings, and 9 met every criterion.
  • YouTube to NotebookLM leads on installs, with 500,000 users (Chrome Web Store, 2026).
  • Six of the nine get install-time access to every website.
  • Check permissions, update dates and reviews first.

How did we pick these Gemini Notebook Chrome extensions?

We started with 101 Chrome Web Store listings that mention Gemini Notebook or NotebookLM, checked on September 27, 2026, and rechecked the winners before publishing. Nine passed four tests, and eight of those carry Google’s Featured badge. The Featured badge is a mark the store’s own team awards after reviewing an extension, and publishers can’t pay for it (Chrome Web Store Help, 2026). We also insisted on recent updates, for a good reason. In fact, a 2024 study of the store found that 60% of its extensions had never been updated, and that extensions with security problems reached almost 350 million users (Hsu, Tran & Fass, 2024). An abandoned extension is a risk, especially one that runs inside your research. Here are the four tests:

  1. At least 50,000 users, as shown on the listing.
  2. A 4.0 average or better from 40+ ratings.
  3. An update in the last 60 days.
  4. Built for Gemini Notebook, by name or by its notebook.google.com address.

Notably, of the 92 that missed out, only two had 50,000 users or more: a general AI chat exporter for 16+ sites and a folder manager last updated 61 days earlier. We make one of the nine; therefore, it gets its own clearly labelled section and the same rules as everyone else. The sections below group the rest by job. User counts, ratings and update dates are Chrome Web Store figures as of October 2026.

What are the best YouTube and web import extensions?

Four picks handle YouTube and web imports, led by YouTube to NotebookLM. Gemini Notebook treats each public YouTube video or web page as its own source, and its help center documents no playlist import (Gemini Notebook Help, 2026). Three of the four picks below fill that gap. Notably, each video still counts as one source, so a free notebook’s 50-source cap limits how much of a playlist fits. YouTube to NotebookLM is the most installed extension in this roundup, with 500,000 users and a 4.9 rating from 939 ratings. NotebookLM Web Importer follows with 300,000 users. The other two, NotebookLM AI Sidebar and WebSync, have 80,000 and 70,000 users. In other words, imports are where most people start, and the market reflects it. Want the native route first? Here’s how adding YouTube videos to Gemini Notebook works without extras.

YouTube to NotebookLM - YouTube to Gemini Notebook

Best for YouTube-heavy research. Its listing says it sends single videos, whole playlists, channels and even search results to a notebook. In addition, it can send ordinary tabs. On the other hand, it requests access to all websites and discloses that it handles user activity data.

NotebookLM Web Importer

Best for building notebooks from many links. NotebookLM Web Importer imports YouTube videos and playlists, web pages, link lists, open tabs and RSS feeds. Additionally, it manages Audio Overviews with a podcast feed. It has 300,000 users and a 4.7 rating from 255 ratings. Importantly, its listing declares no data collection.

NotebookLM AI Sidebar

Best for quick adds from a side panel. NotebookLM AI Sidebar imports web links into a notebook and adds YouTube videos and Shorts in one click. Likewise, you can create and manage notebooks from its sidebar. It has 80,000 users and a 4.7 rating from 110 ratings. However, it requests access to all websites.

WebSync for Gemini Notebook, Drive, and Sheets

Best for whole sites and pages behind a login. WebSync crawls full websites using the session already open in your browser. In particular, it imports YouTube playlists and search results, and can send captures to Google Sheets or Drive. It has 70,000 users and a 4.5 rating from 45 ratings.

What are the best export extensions for Gemini Notebook?

Two exporters cleared our bar: NotebookLM Ultra Exporter and Gemini Notebook to PDF, Word, Markdown export. Both fill a real gap, because native export is patchy. Gemini Notebook exports notes to Google Docs and data tables to Google Sheets (Gemini Notebook Help, 2026). However, Google documents no bulk download for sources or chats. From our research into Google’s help pages while fact-checking this post, the export page covers only notes. As a result, exporters are the second biggest group in this roundup. Ultra Exporter has 100,000 users and focuses on Studio outputs such as slides, mind maps and flashcards. The PDF exporter, meanwhile, has 50,000 users and focuses on chats and notes. Both run their exports in the browser, and both carry the Featured badge. Our guide to every native export option covers what works without an add-on.

NotebookLM Ultra Exporter: Markdown & PDF & More

Best for Studio outputs. Ultra Exporter exports notes and reports to Markdown, Word or PDF. Similarly, slides go to PPTX or MP4, mind maps to PNG or SVG, and flashcards to CSV or Anki. It has 100,000 users and a 4.1 rating from 56 ratings. In fact, its permissions stay on Google domains, and it says exports happen locally.

Gemini Notebook to PDF, Word, Markdown export

Best for clean chat and note exports. This exporter saves chats, notes and reports as PDF, Word or Markdown, with batch export for several chats at once. It has 50,000 users and a 4.2 rating from 214 ratings. That said, it offers in-app purchases and requests Chrome’s debugger permission.

If you’d rather have sources, Studio notes and chats leave together, that’s the job we built Kortex for, and its own section below holds it to the same rules.

Sources, notes and chats out in one click

Kortex, the extension we make, exports a whole notebook as PDF, Markdown, text or ZIP, 10 times a day on the free plan. Free on Chrome.

Which extensions add folders and tags?

Gemini Notebook has Collections. Collections are native groups of notebooks that work like playlists, and one notebook can sit in several (Android Authority, 2026). Android Authority reported them as personal, with no sharing, and they don’t reach inside a notebook. That still leaves plenty of room. For example, there’s no native way to file sources into folders or tag notebooks. Two extensions go further with folders, tags and bulk actions, and they have 90,000 and 70,000 users. NotebookLM Tools builds on Collections instead of replacing them, while ExtendLM brings its own folder tree. In addition, NotebookLM Tools searches notebooks, collections, tags and sources at once. If you only need groups of notebooks, try Collections first. If you need structure inside notebooks, consider one of these two.

NotebookLM Tools for Gemini Notebook™

Best for bulk work plus Collections. NotebookLM Tools manages native Collections, adds up to 50 source folders per notebook, color-coded tags and search across your library. In addition, it bulk-imports URL lists, playlists, RSS feeds, sitemaps and open tabs. It has 90,000 users and a 4.7 rating from 113 ratings, offers in-app purchases and requests access to all websites.

NotebookLM Extension (Gemini Notebook) - ExtendLM

Best for a free all-rounder. ExtendLM lists folders and sub-folders, notebook and source tags, notebook merging, Google Drive sync, multiple Google accounts and exports with citations. Additionally, it offers an MCP server in beta for AI agents, a topic our Gemini Notebook MCP guide covers. It has 70,000 users and a 4.8 rating from 126 ratings, and requests Chrome’s debugger and tab-capture permissions.

How does Kortex compare with these extensions?

Full disclosure: Kortex publishes this blog. Kortex is an all-in-one toolkit rather than a single-job tool, and its Chrome Web Store listing shows 100,000 users and a 4.4 rating from 394 ratings, the second-highest rating count here. It imports chats from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, selected text from any page, and social posts. In addition, it exports sources, Studio notes and chats as PDF or Markdown, and adds collections, tags, source filters and automations. Pro also includes Kortex MCP, which lets Claude or ChatGPT answer from your notebooks with citations. It’s included with Kortex Pro and Lifetime. The demand is real: we analyzed 776 Kortex MCP waitlist answers from September and October 2026, and Claude was the assistant named most, 126 times.

The free plan includes 10 exports and 10 imports a day. Pro costs $9.99 a month, or $4.92 a month billed yearly (Kortex pricing, 2026). Like five other picks, it gets install-time access to every website, which its any-page capture tools use. The table sorts all nine by users, with ties broken by rating count.

How do you check if an extension is safe?

Start with permissions, because they set the ceiling on what an extension can do. Chrome Web Store Help sorts warnings into 3 alert levels (Chrome Web Store Help, 2026). Access to your data on all the websites you visit is a medium alert. In other words, it can read or change every page you open.

We downloaded all nine packages from Google’s update server on September 27, 2026. Then we analyzed their manifests, the files that list what each extension asks for. Six get install-time access that reaches every website. Some ask for it directly, others through the debugger permission, whose warning reads “Read and change all your data on all websites” (Chrome for Developers, 2026). Two ask for all-site access only as an optional permission, granted later. One stays on Google domains. A warning “doesn’t mean the app is dangerous, just that it can be,” as Chrome Web Store Help puts it. Features like tab recording, PDF printing and capture on any page often rely on broad access. Nevertheless, it raises the stakes. In December 2025, researchers found a Featured VPN extension with high ratings capturing AI chats (CSO Online, 2025). The publisher’s extensions reached over 8 million users.

So what should you actually check? Our rule of thumb: an extension earns broad access only if its main job needs pages beyond your notebook. An exporter shouldn’t. A web clipper might.

  • Limit site access. In the extension’s details, switch Site access from On all sites to When you click the extension, or to the current site while you’re on notebook.google.com (Chrome Web Store Help, 2026).
  • Read the data disclosure. Three of our nine declare no data collection.
  • Watch updates. Chrome disables an extension that adds a new warning-level permission until you accept it (Chrome for Developers, 2026).
  • Read recent reviews. A rating is an average, so a recent run of bad reviews can hide behind an old high score.

The right extension depends on the job, and fewer installs mean fewer permissions to watch.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Gemini Notebook Chrome extension?

It depends on the job. By installs, YouTube to NotebookLM leads our list with 500,000 users and a 4.9 rating, and it’s built for playlists and channels. For Studio exports, NotebookLM Ultra Exporter stands out, and for folders and bulk management, look at ExtendLM or NotebookLM Tools.

Are Gemini Notebook extensions safe?

They can be, but check before installing. Six of the nine extensions here ask for install-time access that reaches every website, which raises the stakes if one goes wrong. In December 2025, a Featured VPN extension with high ratings was caught collecting AI chats. Its publisher’s extensions had over 8 million users, so badges alone aren’t proof.

Can an extension import a YouTube playlist into Gemini Notebook?

Yes. Gemini Notebook itself takes individual public video links, not playlists, but YouTube to NotebookLM, NotebookLM Web Importer, NotebookLM Tools, WebSync and ExtendLM all list playlist import. Each video still counts as one source, so a free notebook’s 50-source cap limits how much of a playlist fits.

Does Gemini Notebook have folders without an extension?

Partly. Gemini Notebook has Collections, which group notebooks like playlists, and one notebook can belong to several. Android Authority reported Collections as personal, with no sharing. For nested folders, notebook tags or bulk actions, you still need an extension such as ExtendLM or NotebookLM Tools.

Are Gemini Notebook extensions free?

Most are free to start. Four of our nine picks note in-app purchases on their Chrome Web Store listings, and ExtendLM describes itself as free. Kortex’s free plan includes 10 exports and 10 imports a day, while Pro costs $9.99 a month, or $4.92 a month billed yearly, and removes those limits.
